For most children looked after who are struggling in school, the issues are more to do with social and emotional skills and friendships than academic issues.

Our specialist Education Support Workers, T.A's and teachers can provide in school support for children and young people who are struggling in the classroom or lacking in confidence. We will conduct weekly 1:1 sessions with them and our programmes run for a minimum of one term and provide fun, interactive sessions to tackle worries around making and keeping positive friendships, how to 'fit in' in school and managing anger issues.

Each weekly 45 minute session will have a different focus, agreed by teachers, carers and education support worker. Academic concerns can be addressed as part of the session if it something that is worrying the child/young person in particular. For example, SATS and GCSE support.

We also conduct counselling sessions in schools across Cumbria and at our centre, available for children and adults where needed.

As we know the importance of having reliable staff, we can help to cover periods of staff sickness/holidays with our specialist T.A's and teachers.
