Educla provides 24-hour staffed semi-independent/supported living accommodation (floating support with accommodation) and support for care leavers aged between 16 and 25 years, predominantly 16-18 years. The homes are able to accommodate both long and short term placements. The purpose is to offer a safe, structured and caring environment to young people who are in the care of the local authority but whom are preparing for independent living. Educla’s goal is to ensure that the young people placed within our care develop the suitable life skills and ability to successfully lead independent and prosperous lives with positive and meaningful relationships following on from leaving care.
All of our homes only accommodate one young person at a time (solo placements).
The homes are suited to young people who are ready to make the next step into independence and who can, in the main, look after themselves with some support. They will need to be able to, or learn to, shop, cook, clean, budget and manage their home day to day.
We also place a large focus on assisting with education and career guidance to help them to reach their full potential by adopting a holistic approach to successful independence.
Each care package is bespoke, dependent on individual level of needs. The amount of staff support can be reduced over time, where appropriate, when heading towards fully independent stage.

Just Reach OutAccommodation
Each unit is either a 2 or 3 bedroomed house or flat within easy reach of colleges or work places and on a main bus route that houses only one young person and one member of staff, on a regular shift pattern to allow as much consistency as possible.
Each property is fully furnished and can be adapted to suit. Young people have their own, lockable, bedroom with their own wardrobe and desk space and one bedroom will either be spare, for occasional guests, or used as a ‘sleep-in’ room for staff when they stay over. They will have their own keys to the property to come and go as they please. Whilst staff have keys, they will never access the property without your consent unless they suspected foul play such as drugs and alcohol, illegal substances or activities taking place in the home.
The homes are all very well kept, comfortable and secure to provide a warm, welcoming, nurturing and stable environment for the young people. Each is furnished to a high standard and located with all relevant amenities near by eg, shops, bus stops, colleges, doctors, dentists, opticians, community centres. Each home has been carefully selected to be located in well established, positive community areas.
Furniture can be re-organised to the young person’s tastes and décor can be changed, within reason, in consultation with he staff team and manager.
On arrival, each young person is provided with a set of bedding and towels and all kitchen and cooking equipment is provided.
Each home is subject to regular health, safety and fire inspections by our residential manager and amendments made where required.
Categories / levels of support
As a minimum, each young person will have access to a 24 hour on-call support system where they can call or message staff if needed. This will also be used as a daily ‘check-in’ system so staff know you are safe and ok. Staff can/will drop in from time to time, as agreed by you and have a catch-up chat, cup of coffee and make sure you are well and everything in the property is working as it should.
For young people that need a higher level of support and/or company, we offer a drop-in service, where staff will pop in daily to have a catch up with you and for even further support, staff can arrange ‘sleep-ins’ at the house where they will stay overnight 7pm – 8am to keep you company, watch a movie, help with college work and life skills- cooking, cleaning etc.
Through regular meets with your team we will ensure your views and thoughts are heard in relation to your placement and we will accommodate changes where possible. We will attend your CLA reviews and PEP meetings and do our best to get you into or help you to stay in education for the duration of your placement.
You will be a given a guide booklet on arrival, detailing expectations, house rules and guidance as well as your entitlements.
We endeavour to support your cultural, linguistic and religious needs by helping you to identify and visit local places of worship, help with translation and build up a good level day to day of English language and support your requested needs where possible.
Educla is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and well-being of the young people they work with, engages with young people and staff in Policy and practice developments, demonstrates anti-discriminatory practice and proactively encourages feedback.
